The BBC announced earlier this year that it is putting its security guarding services out to tender so that all the BBC estate is covered by a single security company.
Bids, including by G4S, were submitted by April 23 and the contract is to be awarded in 2014.
“G4S services Israeli prisons to which Palestinian prisoners are illegally transferred in serious violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and also, in the case of child prisoners, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child,” the Palestine Solidarity Campaign said in a statement on its website.
“There is credible evidence that Palestinian prisoners – including children – are routinely subjected to violence and torture at G4S serviced prisons in Israel and Palestine,” it added.
The British security company also provides guards to illegal Israeli settlements and supplies electronic systems for the Zionist regime’s army checkpoints in the occupied Palestinian territories.
G4S also has a questionable record outside the occupied territories.
It has been fined for contribution to the death of an Aboriginal elder in Australia and its guards were implicated in the death of Angolan asylum-seeker Jimmy Mubenga, who died during deportation from Britain by G4S guards.
