AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Saturday kidnapped more than 40 Palestinians from their homes in Aroub refugee camp, north of Al-Khalil city.
Local sources told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that scores of Israeli troops accompanied by intelligence officers stormed the camp and carried out violent raids on homes, which caused widespread panic among children and women.
They added that more than 40 Palestinian young men and children, mostly students, were taken prisoners under different pretexts during the campaign.
They noted that the IOF handcuffed and blindfolded the detainees and dealt with them together with their families violently and without any mercy.
In an earlier incident on Thursday afternoon, fierce clashes broke out between dozens of Palestinian young men and invading troops in Al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of Al-Khalil.
Eyewitnesses told the PIC that the clashes happened after the IOF stormed the camp and embarked on firing tear gas grenades at a group of Palestinian young men.
They added that tear gas grenades fell onto some Palestinian homes causing children and women to suffer severe suffocation.
On the evening of the same day, the IOF established a checkpoint on the bypass road known as Route 60, north of Al-Khalil, and intercepted cars for search.
Eyewitnesses told the PIC that the IOF at this checkpoint detained a 20-year-old university student identified as Subhi Jawabra for one and a half hours before taking him in chain to Etzion detention center.
The IOF also set up a checkpoint near Tarama area, south of Al-Khalil, and embarked on searching Palestinian cars without any reported detentions.
