#OpenRafahBorder Now! Israel shuts down all Gaza and West Bank crossings for Jewish holiday

The Jewish ritual is supposed to transfer the sins of the past year to the chicken, and is performed before the Day of Atonement, or Yom Kippur, the most important day in the Jewish calendar, which this year falls on September 14. Israel on Friday closed off the Gaza Strip and the West Bank for 48 hours, ahead of the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur which begins at sunset.

A military spokesman told AFP that crossings were closed from midnight Thursday and would reopen at midnight on Saturday.

Israel seals the Palestinian territories during its main holidays, claiming an increased risk of militant attack as large numbers of Jews congregate for worship.

The Gaza enclave is already extremely isolated due to restrictions at both Egyptian and Israeli crossings.

During that time all work, traffic, and TV and radio broadcasts will cease.

Public transport will stop running by 3:00pm and Israel’s airspace will be closed from 2:00pm, public radio said.

Seaports and land borders with Jordan and Egypt will also shut down.

Police said they were deployed in strength throughout the country, particularly at synagogues, which attract large crowds over the holy day.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said officers in mixed Arab-Jewish cities would seek to prevent friction between Christians celebrating the feast of the Holy Cross on Saturday and their fasting Jewish neighbors.

National police chief Yohanan Danino has called on both communities “to respect one another and show restraint,” she said.

In the northern port city of Haifa, senior police officers met with Israeli Chief Rabbi David Lau and Greek-Catholic Melkite Archbishop Elias Shakur to coordinate efforts aimed at preventing trouble, including re-routing or postponing Christian parades, news website Ynet reported.

Samri said that restrictions would be imposed on Muslims attending Friday prayers at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa compound, for reasons unconnected with Yom Kippur following repeated clashes there with stone-throwing Palestinians over the past week.

She said that entry to men would be limited to those aged 45 and over who hold a Jerusalem residence permit, but women would be subject to no restrictions.

Age and gender restrictions are regularly enforced on worshippers at al-Aqsa.

“There’s intelligence information of the intention by Arabs to disturb the peace at today’s prayers on Temple Mount,” she told AFP using the name by which Israel refers to the compound housing the al-Aqsa and Dome of the Rock mosques.

It is the third holiest site in Islam after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

Martyred By Israeli Occupation Attacks

انّا للہ و انّا الیه راجعون

May Allah Subhana wa Ta’ ala grant the Shuhada Jannatul Firdaus, and ease it for their families, loved ones and anyone around them. Allahumma Ameen ya Rabbil Alameen. ‘ Inna Lillahi wa ‘ Inna ‘ Ilayhi Raji’un, Allahu Akbar

* The list of shuhada does not display, the numerous victims of the zionist occupation which are undocumented by media. Nor it displays the victims of the “silent onslaught” due to restrictions of movement, ability to go to hospitals for treatment or life saving surgery, due to lack of medication because of the blockades and so on. For example: The Slow Motion Genocide by the Siege on Gaza only, killed 600 patients since Gaza got under Israeli Siege.

For an overview of All Israeli Massacres Palestinians go here

Neither does this list, display the avoidable mortality. A clear and statistical factual evidence, about the number of deaths due to indecent ruling by occupation forces. For even an occupier has obligations under International Laws, Geneva Convention and the Hague regulations, which it is neglecting. These circumstances, together with deliberate policies of the occupier to neglect and even deny every basic human right, severes avoidable mortality which is totally silenced by media or reporting organisations. While in the Holocaust, 1 on 6 Jewish people directly died of deliberate neglect, so if we believe the facts over 1 million due to avoidable mortality, neither should these same circumstances be ignores which are ongoing in Palestine. For this report displays a avoidable morality of at least 0,5 million Palestinians.

How many more dead corpses of Palestinians does the international community need to see in order to act? How many more cruelties and violations of Human Rights, Regulations and International Law will be needed to intervene so this ongoing warcrime is being stopped once and for all.
