NABLUS, (PIC)– Ahrar Center for prisoners’ studies and human rights called on the World Health Organization, Doctors without Borders and all human rights organizations to intervene to end medical neglect against Palestinian female prisoners in Israeli jails.

Fouad Khuffash, director of the Center, said in a statement on Sunday that the Palestinian female prisoners greatly suffer as a result of the ongoing medical negligence and the absence of specialized doctors.

He pointed out that the illnesses which affect the female captives are always discovered after their aggravation, besides there are no periodic checks for prisoners.

Khuffash also noted that the condition of the prisoners vary in terms of the changing physiological nature, which requires special and accurate tests that are not provided by the Hasharon Prison administration.

There are 13 Palestinian women held in the Israeli jails, among them patient captive Lena Jerboni, who is serving a 17-year prison sentence, and who had recently underwent a surgery.
