Ashkelon prisoners to protest medical neglect

Occupied Palestine – The Ashkelon prisoners warned the prison administration that they would escalate protest if Naim al-Shawamra continues to be medically neglected.

The Prisoner’s Club confirmed that the prisoner Shawamra, from Al Khalil and sentenced to life imprisonment, has lost kg10 in weight within two weeks after his health deteriorated.

Shawamra suffers from muscular dystrophy that caused his inability to walk and talk properly.

The prisoners demanded during a visit made by the club lawyer the Ashkelon prison to move to put pressure on the occupation for his immediate release, warning of a more delay in providing the necessary medical treatment especially that doctors and all of those who met him stressed that he’s exposed to serious danger.

The club added that “the prisoners had met with the prison administration over the status of Shawamra,”

They told the club lawyer that they would step up the protests and solidarity work if Shawamra’s case has been noticed.

In a related development, Ashkelon prisoners pointed out that “the suppression units have broken into cells No 11 and 13 and conducted inspections lasted for a full hour citing they are searching for forbidden holdings.”
