ROME, (PIC)– The Italian police and coast guard took on Friday a group of Palestinian refugees, who fled the Syrian war, aboard a boat to the shores of Sicily.

According to a media source, the Italian coast guard rescued about 100 Palestinian refugees, mostly children, after their ship settled on the coast of Lampedusa Island.

The UNHCR reported that the number of Palestinian refugees fleeing the Syrian war to the southern coasts of Italy has reached over 4,600 people during the current year, 3,000 of them came to the country during last August.
