RAMALLAH (Ma’an) — Israeli forces closed the entrances of two villages in the Ramallah and al-Bireh district early Sunday, preventing Palestinians from leaving, a Ma’an reporter said.
Israeli soldiers reportedly told locals that the entrances of the villages of Bilin and Shuqba were closed because Palestinians had thrown Molotov cocktails at an Israeli settler nearby.
Clashes broke out between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the villages, locals said, adding that Israeli soldiers fired tear gas grenades and sound bombs in order to disperse the crowd.
A spokeswoman for the Israeli army did not return calls seeking comment.
