Gaza – Mohammad Mehdi Suleiman,16, is facing in few days a sentence of life imprisonment on charge of throwing stones at Israeli soldiers, Waed Society for Prisoners Affairs reported on Monday.
“The Palestinian boy is to appear before an Israeli court in few days as the Israeli military prosecution has asked to sentence him to life imprisonment,” the society said.
It added that Mohammad , jailed in Megiddo prison , is the first child to be sentenced to life imprisonment.
Mohammed was arrested in March from his home in Haris village in the occupied West Bank .
Waed expressed its deep disappointment by the failure of human rights organizations to protect the rights of Palestinian children, calling on UNICEF to carry out its duties towards Mohammad.
