NABLUS, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) released Sheikh Sami Shabalo, 68, on Tuesday night after 18 months of detention.
Shabalo relatives told the PIC reporter that he was released from Ofer prison, south west of Ramallah city, after 18 months in jail.
They said that Shabalo spent the first 30 days of his arrest in Askalan interrogation center then served the rest of his detention period in Ofer.
The relatives underlined that Shabalo suffered a heart stroke and underwent Cardiac catheterization procedure during his imprisonment term.
Shabalo, who hails from Nablus, was arrested on his return to the West Bank from a visit to his exiled son, Kamal, in Gaza Strip where he attended his son’s wedding.
Another son of the Sheikh was hit with a dumdum bullet at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces back in 1992 and was suffering as a result from 40% motion disability.
