RAMALLAH, (PIC)– The Palestinian prisoners, including patients, in Israeli jails threatened to take protest steps soon to pressure the Israeli prison authority to end its medical neglect policy against them.

Ragheb Abu Dyak, head of the popular committee for the support of prisoners in Jenin city, said in a press release on Sunday that the health conditions of prisoners in Israeli jails have become very serious.

He said that more than one third of the prisoners suffer from diseases and difficult health conditions.

He added that there are 1,400 cases in Israeli jails, 150 of them suffer from chronic diseases and 25 others are cancer patients.

208 Palestinian prisoners have died either inside Israeli jails or soon after their release. The vast majority of them died because of the absence of proper medical care in Israeli jails and the poor incarceration conditions.
