PACBI | Aug 17, 2014

A great tragedy of humanity is being experienced in Gaza right now. The whole world behaves as if they were deaf and mute. The Israeli government seems to have lost its discernment, and carries out cruel attacks by targeting children. In Ramadan, the holy month of the Islamic world, people had to break their fasts among bombs, in tears, grief and sorrow. Unfortunately, anyone who closes his eyes to this crime against humanity and to these cruel people contributes to the violence.

The entire world, especially the Islamic world, has to strike a joint attitude, and in cooperation and solidarity stand against the actions of the Israeli government that targets our Muslim brothers and sisters and also the Islamic values. The Israeli government will gain nothing through these malicious attacks. However, as long as people ignore and keep silent towards this cruelty, they will certainly hear more stories of dying children.

As the Rectors of universities in Turkey, with our signatures below, we vigorously condemn the air strikes and ground attacks launched by the occupant Israeli government on the Gaza Strip on July 8, 2014. We strongly condemn these attacks, which are contrary to fundamental human rights and the International Law, and in which more than five hundred Palestinian civilians, including innocent children and women have been killed and thousands have been injured.

This is not the first attack of the occupant Israeli government, and is a clear violation of the International Law once more. The fundamental reason why Israel gets more aggressive is the apparent support of the USA government, the EU, the Arab governments and especially the UN. The international community condones Israel’s policies, which are war crimes against humanity. The regional and international actors need to adopt an explicit policy against the occupant Israeli government, and implement result-oriented pressure tactics.

Moreover, the public opinion at the international level is that the United Nations Security Council whose mission is to maintain international order, and unfortunately whose failure in this mission has been confirmed many times, has to offer a resolution which will condemn Israel for these attacks, and impose sanctions on it. They have to put that resolution into practice as soon as possible. It is thought-provoking that the UN, despite having taken dozens of resolutions against Israel, has placed no real sanction on Israel thereby disobeying those resolutions.

We as the Rectors of the universities in Turkey declare that we will

  • take any kind of responsibility to create a public opinion against the violence in Gaza on national and international platforms,
  • launch funding and aid campaigns at all universities in Turkey to support our brothers and sisters in Gaza,
  • pursue all legal remedies to make Israel pay compensation for the sufferers that have been killed or injured in Gaza,
  • make sure that all those responsible for commanding and executing this massacre are questioned and sentenced before the international law,
  • activate the international public opinion to make the lawless siege of Gaza be lifted and the occupation be ended,
  • stand behind the rightful demands of our brothers and sisters who live in prison-like conditions in their own homeland,
  • to establish an independent state of Palestine Jerusalem as the capital city.
  • stop all our academic, social and cultural relations with Israeli universities which do not condemn the massacre of their own government, until that inhuman massacre executed against our brothers and sisters in Gaza is stopped and the siege of Gaza is lifted,
  • maintain all our academic, cultural and social relations with Israeli universities and Jewish academicians that react, raise their voice and protest against the Israeli massacre, and will support any initiation of theirs for stopping the massacre and plant the seeds of peace,
  • give all kind of support to Jewish societies and citizens who react against the Israeli government for the sake of the oppressed Palestinians suffering and being killed in their own land, while they live in peace away from their country.

We ask Allah to have mercy on our casualties killed in the attacks of the zionist State of Israel, give their relatives our condolences and hope that the injured will get well soon.

Respectfully declared:

The History of Resistance – The Eagle of Palestine

THE LEGAL RIGHT OF RESISTANCE

Is Resisting Genocide a Human Right?

81 Notre Dame Law Review1275(2006). Conducting an in-depth study of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, and also discussing other genocides, this article details the inadequacy of many of the international community’s response to genocides, such as “targeted sanctions” or international peacekeeping forces. Examining international legal authorities such as the Genocide Convention, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Court of Justice, the article demonstrates that groups which are being subjected to genocide have a legal right of self-defense. International treaties, Security Council arms embargoes, or national gun control laws cannot lawfully be enforced in a manner which prevents self-defense resistance to a genocide in progress, because under international law, the prohibition against any form of complicity in genocide takes legal precedence over lesser laws. * The list of shuhada does not display, the numerous victims of the zionist occupation which are undocumented by media. Nor it displays the victims of the “silent onslaught” due to restrictions of movement, ability to go to hospitals for treatment or life saving surgery, due to lack of medication because of the blockades and so on. For example: The Slow Motion Genocide by the Siege on Gaza only, killed 600 patients since Gaza got under Israeli Siege.

For an overview of All Israeli Massacres Palestinians go here

Neither does this list, display the avoidable mortality. A clear and statistical factual evidence, about the number of deaths due to indecent ruling by occupation forces. For even an occupier has obligations under International Laws, Geneva Convention and the Hague regulations, which it is neglecting. These circumstances, together with deliberate policies of the occupier to neglect and even deny every basic human right, severes avoidable mortality which is totally silenced by media or reporting organisations. While in the Holocaust, 1 on 6 Jewish people directly died of deliberate neglect, so if we believe the facts over 1 million due to avoidable mortality, neither should these same circumstances be ignores which are ongoing in Palestine. For this report displays a avoidable morality of at least 0,5 million Palestinians.

How many more dead corpses of Palestinians does the international community need to see in order to act? How many more cruelties and violations of Human Rights, Regulations and International Law will be needed to intervene so this ongoing warcrime is being stopped once and for all.
