JENIN, (PIC)– The family of detainee Iyad Istiteh, 32, from Jenin, expressed deep concern about his health after suffering from acute inflammation of the esophagus and other health problems while the Israeli prison administration neglected his treatment.
The detainee’s mother, Houriya Istiteh, said in a press statement on Monday that her son, since his detention, started to suffer from severe pain in different parts of his body, particularly in the esophagus, adding that his condition worsened as a result of the prison’s neglect.
Ragheb Abu Diak, head of the Palestinian prisoner society in Jenin, called on Doctors without Borders (MSF) to move immediately and demand treatment for Istiteh, and provide a specialist doctor for his condition. Istiteh served 8 years out of his sixteen-year sentence.
