GAZA, (PIC)– The Palestinian Journalist Forum strongly condemned death threats made by a prominent Russian Zionist against Russian journalist Maxim Shevchenko, who is a member of the Public Chamber RF and TV presenter, for his support of the Palestinian rights and speaking against the siege of Gaza.

The PJF said in a statement on Thursday: “Repeated death threats [against Shevchenko] made by one of the leaders of the Russian Jewish Congress, Yevgeny Satanovsky, who is a member of its board of directors and its former president, are the result of blind incitement campaigns by Zionist leaders, not only against the Palestinian people, but also against all free voices around the world that reject oppression of Palestinian people.”

According to Shevchenko, Yevgeny Satanovsky repeated the death threat in front of Shevchenko’s wife, Nadezhda Kifrckova, who is also a journalist, as Satanovsky told her, after an interview at studio voice “Svoboda “(Freedom) after her return from covering the Freedom Flotilla II, “I will kill your husband,”.

Shevchenko also said that he received anonymous death threats threatening to “break my skull so that shrapnel from it will take out both eyes of my wife.”

The PJF said that such threats would not take place “without an Israeli official cover, which means we are facing Israeli bullying at an international level to supress any free voices that support the Palestinian victims and call for the trial of Israeli war criminals.”

The forum lauded Shevchenko for his humanitarian stands and his support for the Palestinian people in the face of Israeli oppression, especially that he said that he will not change his stands despite the threats.

Finally, the forum called for an Arab and Islamic campaign to support Maxim Shevchenko and called on the Russian authorities to protect the journalist and take legal steps against those sending him death threats.
