NABLUS,(PIC)– Tadamon Foundation for Human Rights stated that the occupation authorities released, on Thursday afternoon, the Legislative Council MP Dr. Ayman Daraghmeh who was jailed in Hadarim prison, in addition to another prisoner who spent 15 months in administrative detention.

Ahmed Betawi, a researcher in the foundation, revealed that the occupation has released the detainee Dr. Aymen Daraghmeh who was jailed in administrative detention for six months and the detainee Najeh Assi from the town of Beit Liqya in Ramallah after 15 months of administrative detention.

Betawi pointed out that there are 26 Palestinian MPs behind bars led by Dr. Aziz Dweik the head of the Legislative Council and three other former ministers in the tenth government.

He added that the prisoner Assi has spent 39 months during the two last arrests in administrative detention without any charge being brought against him where he was arrested in the first time on May 2008 and released on June 2010, and then he was re-arrested for the second time on March 2011.

For its part, the Palestinian Center of Prisoners Studies confirmed that there are still 26 Palestinian MPs in the Israeli jails headed by the Legislative Council chairman Aziz Dweik and three other former ministers who are all administratively detained without charge.

The center revealed that the occupation is using the administrative detention as a pretext for the continuing abduction of the MPs and the former ministers in the Israeli prisons without trial or charge under a renewable administrative detention where 23 of the abducted MPs are administratively detained and all of them are from Change and Reform bloc. Whereas two other MPs are being jailed for long periods, MP Marwan Barghouti who was sentenced to five life terms and MP Ahmed Saadat who is serving 30 years in Israeli jails. While Fatah MP Jamal Tirawi is still detained although he appeared in Israeli courts more than 80 times.
