OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Palestinian prisoner Hasan Assafadi, on hunger strike since June 21, said he would refrain from drinking water as well in protest at the last attack that happened against him and his prison mate Samer Al-Barq inside the infirmary of Ramla jail.

Assafadi went on hunger strike to protest the violation of an earlier pledge by the Israeli prison authority to release him and the extension of his detention administratively for six more months.

The hunger striker told the lawyer of the Palestinian prisoner society during a recent visit to the prison infirmary that the Israeli jailers for the second time assaulted him and his friend Barq, ransacked their room, and seized their belongings.

He added that a number of jailers took everything from their rooms in the infirmary except for the mattresses they are sleeping on in an attempt to pressure them to break their hunger strike.

The lawyer also visited prisoner Ayman Sharawna, on hunger strike for about 45 days, and said the detainee suffer from kidney problems, dizziness and constant pains in his back and legs.

He said the prisoner is held in a solitary room without anyone with him and the jail doctor refuses to give him palliative medication unless he ends his hunger strike.
