Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) — Israeli forces assaulted a group of Palestinian youth in Al-Wad district of Jerusalem’s Old City during a wedding procession on 21 December, injuring 5 and arresting 4.

Jerusalem prisoner support association chairman Naser Qaus stated that a group of Israeli settlers caused a disturbance at the marriage celebrations of local bridegroom Mu’ath al-A’jlooni. Israeli soldiers and police intervened when clashes between the two flared, physically assaulting many young Palestinians, including al-A’jlooni.

Five youth were injured by Israeli forces, including bridegroom Mu’ath al-A’jlooni and Tahseen Tarhooni sustained bruising, and Ala Bader Aghayer (16) whose nose broken. Four others were arrested, including the injured Ala’ Zghayer, and 15-year old Wisam Jawahan.

Qaus added that police shot live ammunition when on-lookers attempted to prevent Israeli forces from arrested the bleeding Ala’ Zghayer. Zghayer was later taken to Ein Karim Hospital for medical treatment. Israeli forces maintained a heavy presence on the streets in Al-Wad district of the Old City throughout the night.
