AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– The family of Palestinian detainee Thaer Halahle said that their son had refrained from drinking water and taking medicine after 70 days of his hunger strike.
They said that Thaer decided to start this new stage of his hunger strike after the Israeli higher court turned down an appeal for his release. They noted that Thaer’s condition gravely deteriorated and was transferred to hospital at a late night hour on Monday.
Aziz Halahle, Thaer’s father, told Quds Press that the Israeli court decision last Thursday was tantamount to a death sentence against his son and the other hunger striker Bilal Dhiab who has been on hunger strike for the same period.
Human rights groups and the Palestinian prisoner’s association denied rumors last night that Halahle was in state of clinical death. His brother told Quds Press that Thaer was taken to an Israeli hospital but he was still waiting a word from the Red Cross on his health condition.
