The Mandela Institute in the Occupied Territories reported on Friday that detainee Linan Abu Ghalama, imprisoned at the Ha-Sharon Israeli prison, started a hunger strike three days ago demanding the prison administration to allow her to be joined with her detained sister.

Linan’s sister is imprisoned at another Israeli detention facility; the two sisters were never allowed to be in the same room or in the same facility.

Botheina Doqmaq, head of the Mandela Institute, stated that detainee Nada Dirbas has joined the hunger strike in solidarity with Linan.

Doqmaq voiced an appeal to human rights groups to intervene and ensure the release of Linan and her sister.

Linan was abducted by the army in April this year and was transferred to administrative detention without charges or trial.
