DAMASCUS, (PIC)– Ezzat Al-Resheq, member of Hamas’s political bureau, said that it was agreed to hold the next reconciliation meeting between his movement and Fatah in the Syrian capital Damascus.

In a special statement to PIC on Thursday, Resheq said that Fatah has overcome its reservations on the venue of the meeting after pulling out of an agreed meeting on 20 October in Damascus asking for a last minute change of venue.

Resheq added that contacts with Fatah were ongoing to finalise a date for the meeting, pointing that the meeting could take place in a few days time.

Hamas leaders expressed readiness to hold the reconciliation meeting in any Arab capital after Fatah informed them that they had a problem with venue in the light of the exchange that took place in the recent Arab summit between the Syrian President Bashar al-Asad and the de facto Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Meanwhile, Ayman Taha, a Gaza based Hamas official, said that a security delegation from the Gaza Strip will be participating in the Damascus reconciliation meeting and that arrangements are being made for the delegation to travel to Damascus.
