NABLUS, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) retained Mohammed Anwar Mona, the correspondent of Quds Press, behind bars for the fifth day in a row, ignoring international calls for his immediate release.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) detained the journalist after breaking into his house in Dhahia suburb, east of Nablus city, last Tuesday and took him to Hawara detention center near Nablus.

The IOA transferred Mona to Megiddo jail, which is near to the city of Haifa in northern Palestine occupied in 1948, on Thursday. He is expected to appear in court within the next three days.

A number of Palestinian and foreign human rights organizations demanded the immediate release of Mona, explaining that his continued detention represents “a violation of international law that protects journalists”.
