RAMALLAH (Ma’an) — Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral procession of ex-Palestinian prisoner Ahmad Abu al-Sukkar in Ramallah on Wednesday.
Abu al-Sakkar, 78, died late Tuesday after suffering a heart attack. He had been imprisoned by Israel for 28 years and was released in 2003 after a request by late president Yasser Arafat.
The military procession marched from the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah to al-Sukkar’s hometown of Turmusayya, north of Ramallah.
Al-Sakkar was responsible for a bomb in Jerusalem’s Zion Square in 1975 which killed at least 10 people and injured over 70.
