BETHLEHEM, (PIC)– Palestinian man tried to set himself on fire, inside the headquarters of Bethlehem Governorate south of the West Bank, in protest at economic hardships after government agencies refused to help him.
Local sources told PIC’s correspondent that the citizen Ahmed Ayesh from the village of Artas near Bethlehem entered on Wednesday the headquarters of Bethlehem governorate and doused himself in petrol. Ayesh tried to set himself alight but he was stopped by some citizens.
The sources pointed out that the young man demanded help from the Ministry of Social Affairs and other government agencies, but he received nothing. Thus he tried to immolate himself.
Ayesh is not the first one to try to burn himself in the West Bank, due to poverty and the economic hardships.
